In Windscript—Root Theatre: Ephemeral Choreography, I adopted a site-specific approach, utilizing grass, soil, flowers, wood ash, and rainwater from the castle grounds as natural dyes for cotton fabric. After dyeing, I cut the fabric into silhouettes of dancers and stitched them onto sheer organza, leaving long, flowing threads that drift freely in the wind. These silhouettes were then suspended between two ancient trees, which serve as pillars of the theatre—metaphors for the deep-rooted connection between dancers and the land. The choreography is ephemeral, dictated by the wind’s movement and the fabric’s response, making each interaction a unique and unrepeatable performance.

Here, I use my body as a tool of exploration, experiencing every breeze, every inch of earth,
and every corner—whether dark, damp, warm, or full of life. I immerse myself in my emotions,
letting them flow through my body and soul. I channel these feelings into the hues of the images,
capturing moments from day to dusk, from sunny to overcast skies.
Edith Meusnier's works create transparent outdoor textile installations using ancient weaving techniques, such as sprang, interacting with the natural environment and emphasizing the transience of wind, light, and time. This resonates with the concept of my Windscript—Root Theatre: Ephemeral Choreography, where I use natural dyes to color cotton fabric, hang it between ancient trees, and allow it to sway with the wind in an improvised choreography. Her art focuses on the blending of nature and the man-made, as well as the fragility of the environment, which has inspired my practice of exploring the interaction between gauze silhouettes and the castle lawn, as well as continuing the narrative of the work through bodily wandering.
